September 2007 - The US Health Resource and Services Administration (HRSA) awarded over $4 million for seven grants to support Geriatric education at UCSF.

Geriatrics Training Program in Geriatric Medicine, Dentistry, and Mental Health received $1.75 million. PI: Michael Harper, MD

Geriatric Academic Career Awards (GACAs) funded five Assistant Professors of Medicine for three years: Louise Aronson, Rachelle Bernacki, Rebecca Conant, Helen Kao and Eric Widera. Awards will help the recipients craft new curriculum and foster teaching leadership and communication skills at UCSF.

August 2007 - Mike Harper, MD is elected to the Haile T. Debas Academy of Medical Educators. Mike joins Bree Johnston, MD as a Division member of the Academy.
May 2007 - UCSF Geriatrics Faculty win national awards at SGIM and AGS national meetings:
- Ken Convinsky, MD was named Society of General Internal Medicine (SGIM) Mid-Career Mentor of the Year.
Brie Williams, MD won the Hartford Geriatrics Health Outcomes Research Scholars Award.
Adam Schickedanz, a second medical student mentored by Rebecca Sudore, MD, won the AGS Student Research Award.
Anna Chang, MD won the Presidential Poster Award for the top rated poster in the case reports category for her poster on Presenteeism.
April 2, 2007 - Louise Walter, MD has been selected as the SGIM Outstanding Junior Investigator of the Year. This presitgious award will be presented to Dr. Walter on April 28th at the national SGIM meeting in Toronto.
June 2006 - Geriatrics Receives Reynolds Foundation Training Grant. UCSF is one of 10 U.S. medical schools selected to receive a $2 million, 4-year grant to train medical students, residents and practicing physicians in geriatrics.
